He Had to Marry Her…

Everyone in London agrees the Byrons are just as ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ as their famous poetic non-relation. But Lord Jack Byron is facing a predicament that is scandalous…even for him!

Marry a young woman because he lost a bet? Unreformed rake Lord Jack Byron would do anything to get out of it. But the rich merchant who holds his debt insists Jack lead his on-the-shelf daughter to the altar…and make her believe it’s a love match. With no option, Jack agrees, thinking he’ll be shackled to a closed-in spinster.

But Grace Danvers is no milk-and-water miss. When he first encounters her in a London bookstore, Jack is struck by her tempting sensuality and soon becomes determined to bed, and wed, her (in that order!). Yet though he plans to seduce her with his touch, he never dreams he’ll also want to win her with his love.

Book Review:

Grace Danvers thinks herself as awkwardly tall lady. She doesn’t believe that anyone will think of her as beautiful and worth the trouble of seducing. She has given up hope and has resigned herself to forever a spinster. That is until Lord Jack Byron enters her life.

Lord Jack Byron is in big trouble and in way over his head. He’s in debt with Grace’s father and the only way he can get out of his debt is to marry Grace. He must marry and Grace mustn’t ever find out what they have planned for her.

What neither of them counted on was falling in love.

Grace despite having just about everything a girl can wish for, doesn’t believe in getting the one thing she secretly craves--love and passion. She’s been burned before and refuses to believe any man would fall in love for her. Grace believes any man that would try to court her would be for money and not for love. No man, not even her closest friend, Terrence can convince her to get married. Unknown to Grace, her father has plans in motion for Jack to seduce and marry his daughter. He’s not having her unprotected once he’s gone. Ezra Danvers believes he’s found the perfect match for Grace in Jack.

The clever matchmaker, Ezra knows that Jack and Grace are perfect for each other despite their differences.

Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly. Jack has fallen in love with Grace and does just about everything to seduce her.

Grace is unnerved by seeing Jack at every event she attends. She slowly begins to fall for Jack as well. Jack slowly manages to seduce Grace with every touch and kiss. And soon the seducer becomes the seduced. Jack and Grace make plans to get married.

Just as things have progressed as far as two people can go, here comes drama.

Grace finds some startling evidence on the real reason Jack sought to seduce her. Jack tries to convince her otherwise that he started out that way but he truly cares for and loves Grace.

Grace refuses to reason. She comes up with a plan of her to keep financially stabled. Grace will marry Jack but will have nothing to do with him. She wants half any money her father paid him to marry Grace. To the rest of the world they’ll put a façade of being a loving couple--behind closed doors; they will not share their bed together.

Jack is at his wit’s end. He agrees to Grace’s terms and they get married. After the wedding he let’s her go.

With help of a friend, Jack uses the excuse of giving Grace her published book to see her. He uses his charm and his persuasion of seduction on Grace.

They both manage to slowly move on and believe in love.
