Book Description:

Cerise Mar and her unruly clan are cash poor but land rich, claiming a large swathe of the Mire, the Edge swamplands between the state of Louisiana and the Weird. When her parents vanish, her clan’s long-time rivals are suspect number one.

But all is not as it seems. Two nations of the Weird are waging a cold war fought by feint and espionage, and their conflict is about to spill over into the Edge—and Cerise’s life. William, a changeling soldier who left behind the politics of the Weird, has been forced back into service to track down a rival nation’s spymaster.

When William and Cerise’s missions lead them to cross paths, sparks fly—but they’ll have to work together if they want to succeed ... and survive.

Book Review:

What can I say that has not already been said.. Not much, except for the fact is that Bayou Moon is my new favorite book. I was lucky (very lucky) to have received a copy of this gift from above for review.

From the very beginning, I was blown away.. Welcome to The Edge.. Where anything and everything can happen. A new world where nothing is what it seems and magic is the way of life.

It has been two years since the first book and readers discover more about William and his future mate, the unknown heroine, Cerise. A war has been brewing for ages between Cerise's family and her neighbors. All hell breaks loose when Cerise's parents are kidnapped and the suspects apparently the clan's rivals, The Sheeriles. Of course nothing and no one is truly what they seem to be.

As much as I enjoy The Edge book #1, William and Cerise story has just became my newest favorite book.  William is a alpha male yet he doesn't come off as an arrogant or jerk. I couldn't help myself but fall for this man just like Cerise. Speaking of Cerise... She is the perfect lady/mate for William..  She doesn't fall for his antics not so much, yet she challenges him like no other woman has ever done before.

Bayou Moon has the perfect amount of action, suspense, mystery, love and humor.

In Bayou Moon is been expanded greatly compared to On The Edge. Once again, I can help but say how much I love this epic novel. I can just imagine all the wonderful characters that bring magic to Bayou Moon and how it keeps readers like me thoroughly entertained. Each of one of these characters are so dynamic and you can't help but feel all sorts of emotions for the good and the bad guys.

I couldn't help but consider William and Cerise to be the Edge's version of Kate and Curran. The heartfelt drama and romance between them is not something that can be easily denied. Everytime they kissed, it just burned the pages.. so scorching hot!

Be warned.. you will not be able to but Bayou Moon down until very last page.

The wife and husband tag team duo are definitely no one hit writing series wonders...They got a new couple for readers to <3 over. I certainly <3 William.

Hang on to your seats ladies and gentlemen.... It's going to be a bumpy ride!

Only one more thing I can add is... I really, really, really hope that there will be more book added to The Edge series and hear more about William, Cerise and family.

I rate Bayou Moon  - 5 out of 5 Stars

Book Description:

They are called Feral Warriors—an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by sorcery and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release . . .

The most combative—and tormented—of all the Ferals, Jag is a predator who hunts alone—until daemons terrorize the human population. To stop them, he partners with Olivia, a flame-haired Therian temptress as strong as she is beautiful. But Olivia is no ordinary immortal. The survivor of a vicious supernatural attack, she possesses a deadly and forbidden skill—one that must remain hidden, especially from the powerful Feral Warriors.

My Thoughts

As Jag and Olivia's sensual dance of dominance and seduction gets wilder and hotter, a dark force sets its sights on Olivia, threatening to destroy everything she has vowed to protect. And the only one who can save her soul is the arrogant jaguar shifter she lusts for but dares not love.

Jag is the most tormented of all the Feral Warriors. Yet that does not stop him from finding pleasure in teasing newcomer, Olivia. Let the games begin.

Olivia is no ordinary Therian; she has the ability to drain people’s energy for her survival. Jag tempts her and at the same time annoys her like no one ever has. She has long had to deal with pain and guilt since she was a young child.

The two are “forced” to be each other’s partner on their combined mission brings out the beast in Jag who is one the hunt out for his “mate.” But the truth about what Olivia really is comes out to the surface. Which of course Jag the tormented or tormenter uses the truth of Olivia to his advantage? Things between Jag and Olivia go from great to worse as the truth about Olivia comes out.

In Rapture Untamed you will find that Jag and Olivia are one of the most dramatic and angst characters of the Feral Warriors novels. Just when I thought things could not get any worse for Olivia, it does as Jag does the unthinkable…hurting her in the most hurtful way. Be sure to keep your box of tissues handy because you are definitely going to need it. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Ms. Palmer’s Feral Warriors series than you better start now? You do not know what you are missing out by not having read one of the best paranormal series today. And I am sure I won't be the only one to be on Team Jag.

Definitely can’t wait to read Hunger Untamed. And here’s a little tidbit about it.

Kougar hunts down the only person who can help the Feral Warriors — the woman he once loved and now hates above all others.

I rate Rapture Untamed a 5 out of 5 Stars.

Book Blurb:

WELCOME TO PRECIOUS, TEXAS

Where fistfights serve as dinner theater and fire ants rain from the sky. The locals are usually very friendly, if a bit eccentric. No pictures please, or you may find yourself a guest of the county morgue.

“Christie Craig will crack you up!”
—New York Times Bestselling Author Kerrelyn Sparks

Photojournalist Shala Winters already had her hands full bringing tourism to this backward, podunk little town, but her job just got tougher. Pictures can say a thousand words, and one of Shala’s is screaming bloody murder. Now she has to entrust a macho, infuriating lawman with her life—but she’ll never trust him with her heart.

Trusted or not, Sky Gomez isn’t about to let a killer get his hands on Shala’s Nikon—or any of her more comely assets, for that matter. Her mouth might move faster than a Piney Woods roadrunner, but all he can think about is how good it must taste…and how she’ll never escape true love.

MY THOUGHTS…

All Shala wanted to do is complete her job and return home. Too bad she didn’t count on some madman out to kill Shala for her camera. Luckily she has a few people there for her whether she wants their help or not.

Sky doesn’t believe in love at first sight.. Hell, he doesn’t believe in true love either that is until he meets Shala. And according to his pesky foster father, Redfoot…Shala is Sky’s true soul mate. Now if only he can keep her alive long enough to prove his old man wrong.

(Yeah, like that is really going to happen.)

From the very beginning I fell head over heels in love with Ms. Craig’s Shut Up and Kiss Me. Who wouldn’t love a book with that title alone. I still have a huge kool-aid smile on my face thinking about this book. I knew this was going to be a great book.. What I didn’t count on was how much I was going to love Shut Up and Kiss Me.

The sparks literally fall from the heavens above every time Sky and Shala are in with inches from each other. Hell must be missing their heat ever since Sky and Shala seem to drawn it them.

Okay enough about Sky and Shala not that they weren't a huge part of the reason that drew me into the story.

Matt and Maria… These two are so amazing together! I love how tormented they are and learn how much secrets could destroy the only thing worth fighting for. Eventhough they weren't the main hero/heroine, I happen to love these two characters as well. Their mini storyline just made this book even more addicting read.

Now speaking of one character that need a swift kick in the ass.. Jose. He’s going to realize that he missed out on something wonderful with two of the female characters in this book. I love the emotions and inner turmoil he goes through in his realization of what he really stands to lose, his family and of course love with the right woman.

Redfoot is the glue that holds this family albeit dysfunctional family, but family nonetheless together.

Christie Craig, you just rocked my world with “Shut Up and Kiss Me.” I can’t help the last time a book kept me smiling and the kind of smiles that hurt because one can’t stop smiling kind of smiles. I really, really, really, really, truly hope that you will add more titles to this Precious, Texas world.

Well, I hope I did a good job with review and not embarrassed myself too much. *Grin* Yeah, I know.. too late for that.

I rate “Shut Up and Kiss Me” 5 out 5 Stars!

Book Description:

With radiant, snow white skin and hair, Percy Parker was a beacon for Fate. True love had found her, in the tempestuous form of Professor Alexi Rychman. But her mythic destiny was not complete. Accompanying the ghosts with which she alone could converse, new and terrifying omens loomed. A war was coming, a desperate ploy of a spectral host. Victorian London would be overrun. Yet, Percy kept faith. Within the mighty bastion of Athens Academy, alongside The Guard whose magic shielded mortals from the agents of the Underworld, she counted herself among friends. Wreathed in hallowed fire, they would stand together, no matter what dreams or nightmares—may come.

My Thoughts . . .

The Professor Alexi Rychman has finally found his one true mate in Percy. Yet just as the couple embarks on a new life together in wedded bliss, the forces of darkness have return to settle the score once and for all. And this time things get even more personal.

Percy may still be the youngest member of the guard but she soon become a force to be reckoned with. Her powers grow as time grows shorter as the guard scrambles to come up with a solution to stop the war that will soon be upon them.

Alexi is still one sexy and handsome male specimen but he is reminded that age is but a number and that his young bride is more than willing to show him a thing or two. The men of the guard are even more sexy no matter how tortured their souls may be. Only these women; Percy, Rebecca and Josephine are strong enough to deal with these men. *sigh*

I was pleasantly surprised of the romantic woes that Josephine and Rebecca faced yet it did not stop them from being honest not with themselves but also with the men as well. As of these characters had some dilemma to overcome and Ms. Hieber gave each them the right of amount of time for each character to sort through it.

Percy has more than one problem to deal with as her past comes to light. How will she deal with learning the truth about her mother’s death? Will she be strong enough to save not only her husband and guard?

I did not think it was possible . . . Yet Ms. Hieber has got me completely under her spell with her Strangely Beautiful novels.

Percy is one bright star that had not cheering her on but also had me at the edge my seat with excitement with each new page I read.

Seriously this spellbinding novel is one that can’t be just read once but many times over and over again. I was suppose to have this review done weeks ago but I just could not tear myself away from it long enough to work on my review.

The action, the drama, the romance and suspense is even better than the first book. Even with the amazing ending I can’t help but wonder what Ms. Hieber will do next with the Strangely Beautiful saga.

I rate The Darkly Luminous Fight for Persephone Parker
5 out of 5 Stars.

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean - Book Review

Mass Market Paperback 432 Pages

Nine Rules tells the story of Lady Calpurnia Hartwell, a 28-year-old spinster who, in a fit of frustration, makes a scandalous list of the nine things that she would do if she did not have to face society...or the consequences.

*Kiss someone-
passionately
*Smoke cheroot and drink scotch
*Ride Astride
*Fence
*Attend a duel
*Fire a pistol
*Gamble (at a gentlemen's club)
*Dance every dance at a ball
*be considered beautiful.
Just once.

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried—and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she's vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she's been missing. But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.

If she's not careful, she'll break the most important rule of all—the one that says that pleasure-seekers should never fall hopelessly, desperately in love . . .

My short review:

I really did not want to enjoy this book. I certainly did not set out to fall in love with another historical romance novel.  However, Nine Rule.. certainly put me in shame and filled my heart and eyes not only with love, laughter but tears as well. It seems Gabriel wasn't the only one that was seduced by Sarah's Nine Rules novel. ;-)

The heart wrenching scenes are enough to warm up the coldest of hearts. You simply cannot and will not put this book down into the very end. I certainly did not have the will power to put it down once I started reading it. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake is my spotlight feature book of the week.

Both Gabriel and Callie have plenty to learn about love and about the other. The heat levels become sizzling hot whenever they get within a few feet of each other. Another thing I enjoyed how Ms. Sarah managed to include a mystery male character that is sure to be great story ahead for Gabriel and Nick’s younger sister, Juliana.

She is one hell of a spitfire woman as well.  The twins and the English will not what hit them once they get a glimpse of this hot tempered princess.

Another thing I enjoyed is the courageous and spunky attitude I saw in Callie. She is the only one that can put Gabriel in his place with the help of her nine rules list. I do not think any reader will be left disappointed either after reading Sarah's Nine Rules novel.

I rate Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake 5 out of 5 stars.

Description from author site:

Olivia is a vampire bored with modernity. Tattooist, boyfriend, black-metal singer: everyone you don’t love tastes the same. Since the fall from Eden, she has hungered for love, but fed only on desire. Dominic O’Shaughnessy is a neuroscientist plagued by impossible visions.

When his research and her despair collide in Ireland’s L’Otel Mathillide – a subterranean hell of beauty, demons and dreams – rationalist and angel unite in a clash of desire and damnation that threatens to destroy them both.

My thoughts…

-and Falling, Fly is an absolute treasure. I have been excited and intrigued about a lot of novels lately but none come even close to Skyler White’s spectacular debut novel, ‘and Falling, Fly.’

Olivia is a vampire and fallen angel of desire who has long gave up on hope and considers herself one of the damned. Since fallen from Eden Olivia has wanted nothing more than to feel yet the only thing she has come close to having is desire. She and her sisters may be damned but are different like night and day.

Dominic is neurologist who is plagued by visions. Dominic refuses to believe that these visions are memories of his past lives. He does nothing but work on research. He accepts a new job which has him traveling Dublin to the Hotel of the Damned. There he crosses path with the elusive Olivia. He tries to convince Olivia and other “hotel guests” to enroll in research project. But to no avail.

All of Dominic visions pass before his eyes in curiosity. All he wants to do is complete his assignment and head back home. He didn’t count on meeting Olivia. Olivia who considers herself damned… yet the sparks between bring them even closer than those closest to her want. Forces beyond their control want nothing more than to destroy the kinship between Dominic and Olivia.

‘and Falling, Fly’ is one those novels that will haunt you for a long time to come. I felt every one of Olivia’s emotions and suffering she goes through. Be warned. This is not your typical love story, oh it so much more. It has such and exciting and riveting love story that will consume readers. You can actually imagine yourself in Olivia’s place as she goes through hell and back in her struggle to be free.

I can only say how much in awe I am of this debut novel by Skyler White.

I wish I can describe more yet I don’t think I can do ‘and Falling, Fly’ the justice it rightly deserves. It pains me to admit that this one of the hardest reviews I have done in a very long time. I want to talk about this over and over again but I would cringe by all of the hate mail I would get if I spoiled for any reader. I am eternally grateful for Skyler White giving me a chance in reviewing her debut novel. Readers like me will be desperately craving more by the author and I can only think that her next novels can only get even more amazing.

I give “and Falling, Fly” a 5 star rating.

Shade Fright by Sean Cummings - Book Review & GA Now Closed

Shade Fright by Sean Cummings
Snow Books Publishing
March 2010
ISBN 978-1-906727-46-8
Urban Fantasy
Ebook ARC Review Copy Received by Author

Description from Goodreads

'I fell into this job quite by accident, when I discovered that I possessed the ability to see the preternatural world. There are a handful of people with similar abilities, and part of my job is to locate them, since Government Services and Infrastructure Canada like to keep track of these things. Don't ask me why'. There's a malevolent force in town, and it's quite literally Valerie Steven's job to determine who's behind it and why they want to destroy the world, starting with Calgary. She'll have help, in the form of her best friend (now more or less a zombie, unfortunately), a powerful dwarf troll, and the ghost of former Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King (but he goes by 'Bill' these days). But that's not all - Valerie has some tricks up her sleeve and, she hopes, luck on her side. Oh, and her boyfriend, Dave. He drives a dump truck.

My Thoughts...

Shade Fright is not your ordinary story. You know it is different from the way the author starts of this tale. Normally authors start their novels by giving readers a mini description about what their books are about. Instead we get to hear about the heroine Valerie Stevens’s boyfriend…which is a relatively exciting twist that peak many readers attention.

In Shade Fright we meet a government civil worker, Valerie Stevens. What few people know is that Valerie works in a secret organization that works with to keep the humans safe from things that go bump in the night. People will definitely not find her name anywhere in any government agency.

On what should have a routine job to a farm, Valerie discovers that something wicked this way comes. A new mystery surrounds Valerie that is seeking to see just how powerful she is. With the help and guidance of her mentors that include a two thousand year old troll named DT and ghost named Fifty Dollar Bill.

As the story progresses, I found out that Valerie is one strong kick ass heroine who has to deal with lots of things… Things that could very well kill her before she can say “L” word to her boyfriend, Dave. I definitely loved and felt bad for the way Dave found out about what Valerie does for a living. And boy am I glad that the author gave us plenty of pages of the background on the place Valerie works for.

Then the shit hits the fan… Valerie learns that there is a hell of lot more going on and she can lose more than her life this time. With time running against her, Valerie has to discover who or what could they want? Why is she being plagued with all these attempts on her life? And when she does discover what is behind all of these attempts, can she save the day?

Sean Cummings, you got a new fan in me. I love Shade Fright! Like the heroine, Shade Fright is one kick ass novel! A novel that will surely become an instant sensation to plenty of readers after they first read it. You have created such an amazing new world for me to lose myself into. Thankfully for me and other fans there is a sequel which I am sure I will devour in one sitting like I did this one.

I happily give Shade Fright a rating of 5 Stars!

The Bride Backfire by Kelly Eileen Hake
Prairie Promises Series #2
June 2009
Barbour Publishing
ISBN 1602601763

Historical Romance

Book Review

I read the ARC readers copy of this novel so I am assuming that all mistakes within this copy will be corrected for the finalized version. It was hard to read because of the typos but I read it all the way.

Opal Specks is trying to keep the peace between her family and the Grogans. Both families have been in war with each for many years. Yet fate steps in when Adam Grogan life is about to end at the hands of her family when she blurts out that he is the father of her unborn child.

This is a journey of one young woman’s quest to end the family feuds once and for all. Adam is just along for the ride when he is forced into marrying Opal at gunpoint. He always knew there was something special about his new bride. Now he plans to show her just how much he cares for her.

Here comes drama.

Adam’s family suspicion raises his doubts in Opal. Nothing know the true reason, he sides with his family. Opal has slowly fallen for her husband and tries to tell Adam the truth but something always comes in between them.

Larry Grogan wants Opal... He doesn’t care that she is married to his brother. Opal was his ‘first’ and he will do whatever it takes to make everyone realize that.
The Bride Backfire had me from the beginning.

As I kept on reading, there were parts that had me screaming my head off in frustration. Other times, I could not help but smile at the sigh worthy moments. This isn’t my usual type of reading novel but boy was I ever glad that I did read The Bride Backfire. I am still smiling as I type up the review. I absolutely love this story and can’t wait to read more by Kelly Eileen Hake. The Bride Backfire is such a sigh worthy romance that is going to appeal to many readers.  This has been a truly wonderful joy to read and that it will be cherished by many for long time to come.

I give The Bride Backfire a 5 Star Rating.

This is an ARC Book Review.. Please be warned that this review might contain spoilers.

An arranged marriage between a werewolf and a vampire.

There will be blood.

She may resist his bite, but she can't resist his charms...

Werewolf princess Blu Masterson won't allow her seductive vampire husband to consummate their marriage with his bite, marking her forever. Alone in a secluded estate with her sworn enemy, Blu curses the marriage arranged to bring their rival nations together, especially since Creed Saint-Pierre calls out to her most feral desires.

When Blu uncovers her pack's secret plot to destroy the vampire nation—and Creed—she is forced to confront her growing feelings for her sexy undead husband. Will she choose the only life she's ever known or accept his vampire bite?

Warning.. This book can cause you to lose sleep. You will not be able to put this book down until the very end.

Werewolf Alpha, gives his daughter Blu, no choice but to marry vampire Creed in order to create peace between the clans. Neither are very happy with the situation but go through the wedding either way.

Even from the beginning of the story, you can just see the sparks will fly between Blu and Creed. Neither is willing to give an inch, but the fur will fly once the banter, fights and seduction begins. No pun attended.

Creed and Blu are only loyal to their clans but there are more things going around them then either one could imagine.

The danger is all around them yet that doesn't stop each other from trying to use their powers of seduction on each other.

Blu has been hurt more than she would like remember and being married to a long tooth is one of the worst possible things that could have happened. However the more time she gets to know her husband the more he manages to slip into her heart.

And then it happens... All hell breaks loose.

Blu and Creed have to put their differences aside to unite against enemies who seek to destroy each other's clans. Once again, they have no choice in the matter as they work together to keep each other alive.

In the midst of all the danger, Creed works his charm and opens up to Blue to show is bride the real him. Even with her charming ways that could be considered annoying by others unlike her husband, Creed. He has long way to show his wife Blu that he's the one person he can trust with her heart.

More and more I fell in love with these characters as they relive their history and open up their hearts to each other.

Ms. Hauf is one magical writing priestess. This is the first time I've read one of her books and I am in too awe of the way she managed to seduce me with her exciting and intriguing addition her Wicked Games series.

I also loved how Ms. Hauf to her time getting to the love scenes between Creed and Blu. One of my favorite parts were … oops, you just have to read the book for yourself because Michele would more than likely kill me if I spoiled the book for her readers.

Her Vampire Husband will surely become another favorite smash hit this 2010.

I gave Her Vampire Husband a rating of 5 Stars.

Book Review

Heyou knows he’s met his future queen. But he must follow her rules for Solie is now his master.

A female master is unheard of and many seek to destroy her.

I am truly in love with this novel. It has been such an amazing experience reading The Battle Sylph. It has lots funny scenes and I absolutely love the characters. The imagination of L.J. McDonald rocks! I love her new world and cannot wait until the next saga in this series!

L.J. McDonald is the author to keep an eye out for in 2010. I can’t explain it anymore clearer. The Battle Sylph has the perfect amount of romance, action, suspense and comedy.

Anymore I can definitely ruin this book for others. Especially since The Battle Sylph is a short but fast and entertaining novel to read.

All left to say is…WOW!!!

I gave The Battle Sylph a 5 Star Rating!!!
