Description from author site:

Olivia is a vampire bored with modernity. Tattooist, boyfriend, black-metal singer: everyone you don’t love tastes the same. Since the fall from Eden, she has hungered for love, but fed only on desire. Dominic O’Shaughnessy is a neuroscientist plagued by impossible visions.

When his research and her despair collide in Ireland’s L’Otel Mathillide – a subterranean hell of beauty, demons and dreams – rationalist and angel unite in a clash of desire and damnation that threatens to destroy them both.

My thoughts…

-and Falling, Fly is an absolute treasure. I have been excited and intrigued about a lot of novels lately but none come even close to Skyler White’s spectacular debut novel, ‘and Falling, Fly.’

Olivia is a vampire and fallen angel of desire who has long gave up on hope and considers herself one of the damned. Since fallen from Eden Olivia has wanted nothing more than to feel yet the only thing she has come close to having is desire. She and her sisters may be damned but are different like night and day.

Dominic is neurologist who is plagued by visions. Dominic refuses to believe that these visions are memories of his past lives. He does nothing but work on research. He accepts a new job which has him traveling Dublin to the Hotel of the Damned. There he crosses path with the elusive Olivia. He tries to convince Olivia and other “hotel guests” to enroll in research project. But to no avail.

All of Dominic visions pass before his eyes in curiosity. All he wants to do is complete his assignment and head back home. He didn’t count on meeting Olivia. Olivia who considers herself damned… yet the sparks between bring them even closer than those closest to her want. Forces beyond their control want nothing more than to destroy the kinship between Dominic and Olivia.

‘and Falling, Fly’ is one those novels that will haunt you for a long time to come. I felt every one of Olivia’s emotions and suffering she goes through. Be warned. This is not your typical love story, oh it so much more. It has such and exciting and riveting love story that will consume readers. You can actually imagine yourself in Olivia’s place as she goes through hell and back in her struggle to be free.

I can only say how much in awe I am of this debut novel by Skyler White.

I wish I can describe more yet I don’t think I can do ‘and Falling, Fly’ the justice it rightly deserves. It pains me to admit that this one of the hardest reviews I have done in a very long time. I want to talk about this over and over again but I would cringe by all of the hate mail I would get if I spoiled for any reader. I am eternally grateful for Skyler White giving me a chance in reviewing her debut novel. Readers like me will be desperately craving more by the author and I can only think that her next novels can only get even more amazing.

I give “and Falling, Fly” a 5 star rating.
