What was it like the first time you decided to pursue becoming an author fulltime?
The easiest answer would be that I’ve always done this. I knew in high school that I was going to be a writer. Though, at that time, I was going to be a Pulitzer Prize Winning journalist. To achieve that, I went to college and (15 years later!) earned multiple degrees. By that time, however, life had changed my plans and I found another avenue for my writing.
What’s your writing schedule like? Or do you write a little bit everyday?
I try to write everyday — weekends and holidays included. I don’t always succeed, but it’s the goal I strive for.
Is it hard mixing your professional life with your personal family life?
Yes! I’m a mom and a wife first. Our youngest daughter is 16, so often the demands of being the mom take priority. She will be heading off to college in a few years, so I cherish the time we have right now. I would much rather spend my time with my family then locked in my office, tied to my computer. My husband is very understanding when it comes to deadlines, though, and is my biggest supporter. Of course, there is time when we are all busy with our own things and I’m able to get my work done. Still, I wouldn’t trade a few hours of quiet for the chatter of talking with my family for anything.
Can you tell us a bit about your upcoming release?
Ghost Mountain is a paranormal mystery. Cerri (pronounced “Carrie”) Baker, her husband, and three kids move to the Rapid City, South Dakota, area. Cerri comes from a family where the “woo woo” factor is really high. Her mother and sister completely embrace the ancient Celtic wise-women ways that Cerri wants no part of. Unfortunately, the Universe has other plans. Cerri gets information about a murder from her Spirit Guide. In an effort to be left alone by the spirit world, she shares the information she was given. Unfortunately, that makes Cerri suspect number one in the murder investigation!
I love paranormal so I can see why you would pick that as your chosen genre to write. Do you think you might branch out and write in other genres?
Maybe. If I had to put myself in a genre, though, I’d probably say mystery. I think that’s because my novel really is a mystery. Cerri just gets her information a little differently then most people would.
Everyone seems to have gone crazy for the paranormal and urban fantasy genres… in particular vampires… Do you think you ever write about vampires?
I don’t think so. There are so many vampire stories out there right now, that I’m not sure I could add anything new to the mix. Besides, I really enjoy writing about a character who has to play by the “rules” as we know them.
What is one day in the life of Nichole R Bennett like?
In a word: boring! I am usually up by 5 a.m. so that I can get coffee before I need to be polite. I make sure my daughter gets off to school and spend a good chunk of the day working. I try to walk a few miles every day, but South Dakota weather doesn’t always allow for that. I try to call it a day by 4 p.m. so that my evenings are free to share with my family. See, I told you it was boring!
What’s one thing that might surprise readers/fans about you?
I’m really very shy. I would much rather sit at home with a book then go to a party. When I do socialize or even speak to a group of people, I always feel like I’m playing a part.
Do you have any pet peeves?
I do! I really hate it when people don’t listen to each other. It’s okay to disagree, but at least listen to the other person’s point of view!

I've never had anything paranormal happening to me (thank God!) I could never live in a house with a ghost lurking around. It wouldn't take me long to pack my bags and leave! lol
In the previous house we lived there was a resident ghost. Not scary, but it made its presence known several times: it frequently happened that you were in a room and the light switch clicked off, even though there was light in the hallway or other rooms, so no power blackout. Then the strangest was that one night I woke up around 3:30 am to snoring, in the bed across from me I saw the silhouette of a man, sleeping on his back, his hands on his belly. I thought it was my dad and wondered if he came to sleep on the spare bed because he had a fight with my mom. Then in the morning I asked him and he told me that no, he slept in his own bed, but that he woke up at around 3:30am witha weird feeling. I know what I saw and that I heard the snoring, it was so loud that it woke me!

I've had, what i think, are encounters with ghost or could be that im crazy orrr when you think in your mind its a ghost and every small little noise, i think is a ghost, if that makes sense.... :)

One of my dear friends passed away from cancer and I know she came to visit the office . . . the cabinet in the kitchen where she would get coffee sounded like it was opening and closing (although we didn't see anything). Also, the biometrics device that lets us in kept going off as if someone were trying to use their fingerprint but the device wasn't accepting it. It was all very weird.

It's interesting that the author considers herself a shy person because I can relate. I too feel as if I'm playing a part when I'm out socializing because otherwise I would feel very uncomfortable and hide in a corner.
I think that's part of being an author; at home while I work I can isolate myself with my ideas. But when it's time to get out there, promote and mingle; I put on that sexy, confident superwoman suit and get the job done even if inside I feel naked and exposed.
It's interesting to know it's not just me. lol. Great interview and great stories of ghostly hapenings!
I had a ghost experienced when i was little girl.
we visited our old old house in our village . the house is more than 200 years old.
a huge black thing, appeared in front of me, it's more than 2 mt high. i just couldn't understand why this thing 'showed' it self to me only !
